How Covid Absences Work – CHS

In the past two years COVID has brought many challenging issues. One of those challenges is how students are to be marked for their attendance. Initially we were advised to mark students “excused”  “does not count”.

We have since been informed that these students cannot be marked “does not count” This is because of the state report that needs to be submitted and used for P-EBT. With this change you may have noticed that your student’s number of absences has drastically changed. Please be assured that this does not affect your child’s attendance in a negative way.

When checking on your student’s attendance the only absences that are taken into consideration are those that are unexcused. If you have any questions please feel free to contact the front office either by email or by phone. 765-795-4203 M-F 8:00-3:00.
