Boys basketball

With a great amount of support from the school and community, the boys’ basketball team has had an amazing season so far, with a record of six wins and eight losses. On January 7th of 2022, the Varsity boys basketball team was supposed to play the Owen Valley Patriots, but unfortunately, they were unable to play that game due to quarantines throughout the team. This Owen Valley game was rescheduled for Tuesday, January 18. The boys fought hard but could not pull out a win against Owen Valley. The Clovers also played on January 14, where they had an amazing win against Cascade. The next night the boys traveled to Parke Heritage, where they secured a win with a score of 34-31. The boys will be ready to take the floor again January 20 against county rival the North Putnam Cougars at North Putnam. January 22 they will play Clay City at home, and on January 28 the boys will play North View for our hardwood homecoming.

Girls Basketball

The girls’ basketball team is known for the defense they play.  As their season comes to the final two games of the regular season before sectionals, they are hard at work preparing for the big sectional games. The girls played January 7 at home against Owen Valley; they could not pull out a win, but worked hard to stay with the Patriots. The next day, the girls were scheduled to play Greencastle, but unfortunately had to reschedule to the next Monday. That game was an all-around good game for the girls as they played excellent defense and had really positive outcomes on offense. The next day they played West Vigo, where which unfortunately resulted in a loss, but the Lady Clovers held a good team to under thirty points. On January 14, the girls played Cascade where they had a good defensive game, but could not pull a win. The next Monday, January 17, the girls traveled to Northview where they had another great defensive game. The next night, they traveled to Parke Heritage, where they played good defense, but shots just did not fall. They will return back on the court on January 21, 2022, where they will go against Sullivan for their last home game of the season, which is senior night for the girls.

Wrestling

Girls Basketball is not the only winter sport whose season is coming to an end. The wrestling team’s season is also close to an end. The varsity wrestling team will be competing in sectionals on January 29. This year the wrestling team will be losing three seniors after this season: Xavier Evans, Matthew Halloran, and Isaiah Ramsey. This year, the team has only had a few home matches but has secured many wins from a few individuals.
